Below is an alphabetical listing of every magazine we are promoting for submissions. In brief, our POV is that you should submit ONLY to journals that fit ALL of these requirements:
- awarded at least one Pushcart nod in the past six years (high quality)
- received a Best American Award ever (high quality)
- accept digital submissions (care about environment & more efficient for the writer)
- accept simultaneous submissions (they understand the writer’s POV)
- respond with rejections (they understand the writer’s POV)
- accepting submissions right now (doesn’t waste your time)
There are many fine journals out there who publish great work that won’t make our list. We have plenty of opinions on these matters if you want to review them in our POV section. Note that many more will be added to this list as their reading periods open. But again, as of this day, any journal linked-to from the site is ready for submissions. No wasting time researching journals that aren’t open for months.

A note about Great River Review. They used to be on this list, meeting all requirements, however, from personal experience they have held onto a piece of ours for more than 425 days. We written over and over to ask about status without response. They haven’t published a new issue since 2017, but aren’t listed as defunct on Duotrope. We aren’t sure what is going on, but most likely they do not respond with rejections, which DOES break one of our rules.
